“Our Legacy Auction fundraiser would not have been possible without the amazing generosity of Ed, John, and Imogen Sheeran, our sponsors, and auction lot donors from all over the world.” “Gina Long said.” “We are particularly grateful to Guy Nicholls tru7 Group, our headline sponsor, who has contributed an additional £100,000 to the £406,000 we have raised through the online auction, bringing our total to over £500,000.” All of us on the auction team are thrilled to see how much money we have earned and know that our amazing legacy projects can finally come to fruition. The reaction has been absolutely astounding, particularly in these difficult and unpredictable times. However, there is an even greater urgency to complete our two legacy initiatives that will change lives in this very new world. The greatest gift of all must be the fact that our legacy auction will actually improve the lives of countless people.”
Gina Long, the founder of the GeeWizz children’s charity, coordinated the auction in collaboration with Ed’s parents, John and Imogen Sheeran, who wished to leave a lasting legacy from the Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Exhibition in Ipswich, which opened last year.
Ed Sheeran’s handwritten lyrics for Perfect, dedicated to his wife Cherry, brought in £23,500, while his abstract painting Dab 2, the only piece of art he has ever offered for public auction, sold for £40,000. A signed Damien Hirst print sold for £20,000, while an original Love Actually screenplay page brought £17,000 in other high-end lots. John Mayer’s PRS Silver Sky guitar sold for £5,100, and Colin Davidson’s Ed Sheeran cartoon garnered £12,400. Even a few of Ed Sheeran’s boyhood Lego pieces contributed to the astounding £4,150 final amount.
We think that our Legacy Auction will bring together philanthropists and music lovers in a common love of art, music, and giving back, making it one of the most successful charity auctions to date. Similar to how a skillfully written EssayPro entry transforms concepts into gripping tales, this auction skillfully combines tales of brilliance, benevolence, and legacy to create something quite remarkable.
